What’s the difference between a gymnast and an acrobat?

acrobats
asked:

In terms of fundamentals - are they the same for both, or is there anything different.
Brandy - Yeah, but it looks to my uneducated eyes like a lot of the physical prowess, the musculature, is the same, as if they could change places. Thoughts on that at all?
E-mAn - OK, OK! I respect gymnasts, just wondering, that’s all.

I think a gymnast is balance beam, uneven bars, and the horse. Things like that. An acrobat is a person that walks on tight ropes, and swings from bar to bar in the air.

gymnastics is more technical….like you always have to point, straight knees, stuff like that. but with acrobatics, it’s more lenient. you’re free to make your own routines and you don’t have to follow the rules like…cirque du soleil productions.

    OMG!!! JEEZ!!! U DISSIN ME!!!

Listen, acro-bats is like circus stuff done for entertainment!
Gymnastics is a competitive sport with 6 events for guys: Floor, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, P-Bars, High Bar; and 4 if your a girl: Floor, Beam, Vault, and Uneven Bars.

I’m a gymnast so I got a little offended by the question. I think gymnastics is the hardest(It at least takes the most dedication and hard work) and most unappreciated sport ever!

I don’t know, I’ve never slept with an acrobat.

I think a gymnast is a sport, and an acrobat is an entertainer.
