Randy D asked:
Adobe Acrobat Reader used to be free to download. Now everywhere I see it, it costs money. My Turbo Tax files from previous years are pdf files and now I can’t even open them because of my reformating of my PC.
They all say they are free, but then you click on the download button and they ask for your pay info and tell you what they are charging.

It’s free, I don’t know where you’re looking.
Just go to, and click on “get reader” button.
or you can use the compatible “Foxit reader”. It’s also free.
EDIT: I don’t know what you’re talking about. When I downloaded my reader the other day they didn’t even ask for e-mail address. You’re sure you’re on adobe.com?
EDIT2: You must be confusing the free Acrobat reader with the FULL version of Acrobat. That’s the only reason I can think of that you went off so far.
Try this download.com link:
You can try filehosting sites, 2 are megaupload.com and rapidshare.com. Type the name of the file site then what you want and search. Also portableappz.blogspot.com. You don’t need Adobe to read pdf files, there is a free reader called Sumatra PDF.
I can see where the confusion comes from!
It is no longer called “Adobe Acrobat Reader”, just “Adobe Reader”.
Adobe Acrobat is a more advanced program that you have to pay for.
