Whats the difference between Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader?

Which one do you recommend keeping? I have both on my comp and would like to delete one.

    Acrobat allows the user to use advance features such s editing and making pdfs and a lot more.

    The reader is just for reading. The Reader is what you should keep.

    The reader is used for viewing and printing PDF files.

    The Adobe Acrobat program can create and edit PDF files. It is very powerful — more than you need for just viewing and/or printing PDF files. But if you legally OWN the Acrobat, by all means keep it.

    If you mostly just view/print PDF files, you might want to change your file options (in a folder window, select Tools->Folder Options->File Types) so that the default “open” for PDF files is the reader rather than the Acrobat program. Quicker and easier that way. Then start the Acrobat program manually only when you need to use it.

    If you don’t own a LEGAL copy of Acrobat, then by all means delete it.

    I’ve gotta go with GFC on this one. I have both (yes, legally), and by default use the Reader. It loads MUCH faster since it’s not loading every feature known to man. Then, when I need to merge documents or print to PDF, I’ll bring Acrobat up.

    Reader only allows you to read PDF files. Acrobat allows you to author PDF files. Acrobat is most easily used as a printer. You will notice it in your printer area name “Acrobat PDF Printer” or something of the sort.

    There are other applications that will allow you to print to PDF such as CutePDF that are free if uninstall and realize that you needed it. The reader is free from adobe and is currently at version 8.1
