First, look in the Startup folder of your Programs Menu, and see if there are any shortcuts to Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, PDF files, etc, and delete them. Understand, these are just shortcuts, so you are not actually deleting anything the file needs to run.

Second, go to Start, Run, (or Windows Key + R) and type
“msconfig” - minus the quotes, and click on the Startup tab. You should see a list of programs with check boxes by them. Uncheck anything that sounds like Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, etc. If you don’t know what something is, GOOGLE it before you uncheck it, just to make sure that you’re not turning off something important.

you go to start then go to RUN then put it msconfig press enter go to the tab for progams on start up and un check all the programs you dont want to pop up when your computer starts up. dont mess wiht any of the files for your windows or programs that make the computer run. REMEMBER THAT. you should not having anything runnig when you boot your computer up thats what makes it slow, besides the programs that are their for your computer to run, start up, all that stuff, but the acrobat and aim and stuff like that uncheck you will notice a difference once you uncheck them and save and re start. h

A very easy way to turn this off is to in xp go to start/run.
then type (msconfig) without brackets. when a windows opens click the startup tab and along this list will be all the startup items. just find the files and unchech the checkbox. you only need to click apply and then ok followed by a restart and when it turns back on you may MUST select do not launch system configuration utility.

in vista all you need to do is type msconfig into the search bar and press enter.
